Worcestershire’s Apprenticeship Community Inspire Future Workforce

Worcestershire's apprenticeship community, comprising employers, training providers, and ambassadors, showcased their dedication to nurturing talent during National Apprenticeships Week (05 to 11 Feb 24). This annual event provided an opportunity for many individuals to share their apprenticeship stories and highlight the invaluable experiences gained through these programs.

Leading the way in apprenticeship initiatives are prominent employers such as Yamazaki Mazak, Worcester Bosch, OLPRO, Open GI, Citizen Communications, and West Midland Safari and Leisure Park. These companies have consistently demonstrated their commitment to fostering talent and providing opportunities for both young people and adults.

Apprenticeships in Worcestershire offer a pathway for individuals to acquire practical skills and valuable experience in thriving industries while earning a wage. With a wide range of sectors to choose from, including advanced manufacturing, cyber security, IT, Agri-tech, health and care, construction, and business administration, there is a diverse array of opportunities available for aspiring apprentices.

Playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of apprenticeships in the region, Worcestershire Apprenticeships, in collaboration with the county's main apprenticeship training providers, such as Heart of Worcestershire College, The Development Manager, and The Learning and Development Team at Worcestershire County Council, have been instrumental in creating a supportive environment for apprentices.

To streamline the application process, Worcestershire Apprenticeships has developed a dedicated website that connects prospective apprentices with local apprenticeship providers. As an added incentive, Worcestershire residents aged between 16 and 24 can benefit from a £500 bursary to assist with expenses like travel, clothing, and necessary equipment. Interested individuals are encouraged to review the terms and conditions before applying.

Situated in the heart of the country, Worcestershire's strategic location and excellent transportation links make it an ideal place for businesses and apprentices to thrive.

The region's apprenticeship community celebrated the achievements and opportunities available during National Apprenticeships Week. Francesca Gibbs, Worcestershire Apprenticeships Project Manager, expressed her pride in the network of apprenticeship providers and their commitment to shaping the future of apprenticeships. She emphasised the wide range of sectors and levels available, ensuring that there is truly something for everyone in Worcestershire.
